empowerment

In our desire to accomplish our vision, we approach every short and long term goal with fiery determination. This we strive to achieve within an environment of equal opportunity and empowerment in which the disparities previously imposed on race, colour, gender, age, handicap, and ethnic origin are actively redressed. Storey ENG (Pty) Ltd consequently subscribes to and actively supports affirmative action and the empowerment of people disadvantaged by the previous political dispensation in South Africa.

We in this regard make every effort to employ men and women from historically disadvantaged communities as professional associates and sub-contractors. Recognizing the valuable contribution women can make, we encourage them to play significant and equal roles within the firm. In order to ensure all involved with projects have the required skills and experience, we also advocate for and actively support continuing education, encouraging participation in both formal institution- and in-house training programmes.

In addition to the empowerment efforts employed within the firm, every opportunity is sought to become involved with projects in which the lives of people are positively influenced and enriched. Of note are:

  • The management of a land settlement grant project providing a farm worker community with funds to acquire a controlling interest in a controlled atmosphere fruit store.

  • The evaluation of a needs assessment for five rural farming communities.

  • Making ourselves available to assist with the Tsunami Relief effort.

  • Responding to the Archbishop Desmond Tutu's appeal to provide basic subsistence funding to the poorest of the poor.
